Buying a Home In Southern California

buying a homeSouthern California is an interesting market for many reasons: It is a major city in California- yet has the characteristics of a smaller community, It’s a feeder market from bigger cities and areas like Los Angeles, and it has a very niche job market!

*The Major city in California component is important for real estate because Southern California is often the last affordable housing option in California for many wanting to stay in the state. Home ownership is the goal of many, and an important step in many people’s lives, so finding a market in which finding the “American Dream” attainable is important. We get transplant buyers from San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Oakland and Southern CA just to name a few areas. This keeps our demand for homes high and our market stable.

*Being a feeder market from Los Angeles, we are sensitive to pricing shocks in those more expensive markets. We are also very sensitive to stock market swings since many people buy their first homes using stock sale proceeds. When the market goes up in those areas we get a huge migration of cash rich buyers eager to purchase cheaper real estate in Southern California.

* Our main job offerings in the Southern California area come from two large sectors: Medical and Government. We see large groups of people coming here for jobs at UC Davis Medical Center, Kaiser and Sutter Hospital Systems. We also have many people coming to the area for Government jobs as we are the capital of California, and where the legislature meets.

If you have been considering a move to Southern California there are so many things about this area that are worth mentioning: rich and fun sports culture, foodie scene, etc.
